Police in Towada, Aomori Prefecture, have arrested a 59-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing his 84-year-old mother by beating her with a wooden sword last month.

Man arrested over murder of 77-year-old mother

Police in Kyoto have arrested a 44-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing his 77-year-old mother.

According to police, Fumitaka Tabata has admitted to stabbing his mother Chikako, in the kitchen of her house at around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, Kyodo News reported. A neighbor who heard a woman screaming called 110.

2 children, mother die in suspected murder-suicide at home

A 36-year-old woman, her seven-year-old daughter and five-year-old son have died in what police believe was a murder-suicide in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture, police said Saturday.

According to police, the woman’s 41-year-old husband found the bodies after he returned home from work at around 7:20 p.m. on Friday, Kyodo News reported. The front door was locked. Inside, he found his wife and two children in a room on the second floor, and called 119.

Man goes on trial over death of 2-month-old son

A 25-year-old man went on trial at the Mito District Court on Monday, charged with fatally abusing his 2-month-old son last October.

According to the indictment, Hiroki Horie, a company employee, beat his son Ritsuki who was sitting in the back seat of his car while in the parking lot of a drugstore in Daigo, Ibaraki Prefecture, at around 4 p.m. on Oct 5, NHK reported. When he returned home, the child became ill and lost consciousness.

63-year-old man arrested over wife’s death

Police in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, have arrested a 63-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 62-year-old wife.

According to police, Nobuyuki Maniwa, a company employee, kicked his wife Yoko, a nursing assistant, in the face in their living room at around 7:10 p.m. on May 20, Kyodo News reported. Police received an emergency phone call at around 1 a.m. on Sunday from the couple’s son, who is in his 30s, claiming that his mother had collapsed and was unconscious.

67-year-old man arrested after body of his mother found at home

Police in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, have arrested a 67-year-old unemployed man after the body of his mother, who was in her 80s, was found in their apartment.

According to police, Yoichi Watanabe said that his mother died last October and that he kept the body in her room, Sendai TV reported. Police visited the house on Friday after a neighbor contacted them and said the woman hadn’t been seen for several months. 

Man arrested for stabbing 75-year-old mother-in-law

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 46-year-old man on suspicion of attempting to kill his 75-year-old mother-in-law at their residence in Shinagawa Ward.

According to police, they received a call at around 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday from a woman claiming that she was “pushed down and stabbed,” Kyodo News reported.

Man arrested for beating 78-year-old father to death with hammer

Police in Kyoto on Monday arrested a 50-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing his 78-year-old father by hitting him on the head with a hammer.

According to police, Hiroyasu Wada has admitted to the charge, Kyodo New reported. Police quoted Wada as saying he attacked his father Ryoichiro after they had an argument at around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Woman arrested over murder of newborn son

Police in Niihama, Ehime Prefecture, have arrested a 32-year-old woman on suspicion of killing her newborn son by leaving his body in a forest.

According to police, Yuka Tateno, a part-time bar worker, gave birth in early April, Kyodo News reported. Police said she wrapped the infant in a towel and took him to a nearby bamboo forest where she left him. The baby’s body was found on April 13 by a man picking bamboo sprouts.

Man arrested over murder of 79-year-old mother

Police in Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, have arrested a 49-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing his 79-year-old mother at their home.

Police said Shigekuni Ogino was initially arrested on the night of April 23 after being stopped for driving erratically, local media reported. Police said he acted in a "suspicious" manner when questioned, so they decided to go with him back home where they found the body of his mother Reiko. 

An autopsy revealed that the victim had been choked to death and there were bruises on her face.

Police said Ogino has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying there had been trouble for some time between his mother and himself and that he had killed her on April 22.
