It is widely believed in Japan - though the Japanese are terribly ashamed of it - that the daughter of the Crown Prince is in fact his sister... Due to infertility issues, the current Emperor is said to have "donated" himself, through IVF, to ensure that the Crown Prince had an heir. Unfortunately, as the line of succession is male only, it will be the nephew of the Crown Prince who will eventually succeed him as Emperor. As a side note - and perhaps as a result of these shenanigans - the Crown Prince is someone who, for many years, has worn the constant grin of a banshee, whilst his wife and daughter (sister) are acknowledged to each have a level of emotional stability akin to that of the average shithouse rat.
